Elite Training / Competition Team

Dancers who wish to engage in more intense dance training, have more performance opportunities, receive valuable feedback from industry professionals, and achieve exponential personal growth and expansion, are encouraged to audition for DFR's Competition Team. The Elite Training Program includes dance classes, workshops, intensives, conventions, excursions and events that are only open to Team dancers, as well as leadership and enrichment programs.

There are various levels and age groups within the program. After auditioning, each dancer is placed according to their proficiency and technical abilities. While a dancer's age is a factor, it is not the primary determinant for Team placement.

Apprenticeships are offered to those dancers who require more time and training before becoming members of the Team.

Summer preparation is mandatory for all Team dancers, as is participation in several annual performances, regional competition and convention events.  For more a more detailed overview of the commitment, please email us : idance@dancefactoryridgefield.com

Elite Training / Competition Team Experience

DFR Dancers accepted to the Competition Team must be enrolled in specific technique and rehearsal classes at each level of participation. Company dancers must be enrolled in Ballet, Jazz, and Contemporary technique classes.  Hip Hop Crew dancers must be enrolled in Hip Hop and Contemporary or Jazz technique classes, and adding Ballet is highly recommended.  Enrolling in Acrodance classes, workshops or private lessons as a means to elevate routine choreography is also encouraged.

DFR believes in building well rounded, versatile, strong, balanced dancers, and recommends cross training in each of these dance styles, as well as a weekly conditioning, strength training and flexibility regiment outside of class time. This can include Yoga, Pilates, Fitness Classes or following a program at home via YouTube or other available online platform to augment and enhance the training received during their weekly dance classes.

Each Company and Crew have weekly "rehearsal classes" which focus on building strong technique,  creating deep emotional connections to music, embodying intricate musicality, developing storytelling, dynamics, and textures, and polishing Competition routine choreography.  Feedback from industry experts received throughout each season is reviewed and built upon during these weekly classes as well.

Team Dancers 13 and over are invited to attend classes in NYC at professional studios such as Broadway Dance Center and STEPS on Broadway via DFR chaperoned excursions, as well as on their own.

Team Dancers 10 and over are encouraged to audition for Summer Intensives such as Joffrey, BDC, No Boundaries, and Embody Melt.

Team dancers are invited to perform at various DFR studio events, community events and charity/benefit performances throughout each dance season.
